Overview
After my sophomore year at Saint Catharine College, Kentucky, I planned a trip to my home country, Burkina Faso. The trip will be composed of a two week vacation followed by two months Agroforestry internship in the village of Koutoura in Southern Burkina.
The plan: fly to the capital city of Ouagadougou, spend time with family and friends, take a bus to Koutoura after two weeks.
Now, the story in pictures
I almost didn’t make it because I missed a flight, for my second time in five months…

Just me, posing at Louisville International Airport.
I flew United Airlines, for the first time. The first leg of the flight took me to Dulles Airport in D.C. with a 7 hour layover.

For a seven hour layover, why not kill the time taking selfies?
The next leg of my flight is with Turkish Airlines, and at this point, I don’t know which Gate to go to since it is a 10 pm flight, and I am over 7 hours early. I am sitting here, hoping that maybe in five hours, the flight will appear on the screens, and I will find my way to the front gate for my boarding passes!

A breathtaking aerial view of Istanbul. Exquisite a taste of modernization
The layover in Istanbul was short, thus making it fun for me. I landed at the time my next flight was supposed to be boarding, but the airport was pretty laid back so I still waited for 40-50 minutes before boarding the plane.

Finally home, in Ouagadougou.
Obviously, this is only half of the trip. I now have to meet with the uncle who helped set up the internship. I needed more indications in order to find the place of my internship.
Five days, later, I finally started the bus trip South, to Koutoura, the site of the internship.

Public Bus Station: On the road again, but this time for Koutoura, the site of my internship
On Tuesday, May 19th, at 4pm, I finally set foot on the ground of Koutoura. I was supposed to be here since May 9…
